Family Court Service provides intervention to thousands of families each year referred by the Judiciary of the 11th Circuit Court of Miami-Dade County, Florida. This program was developed in 1989 by Evalyn Milledge, M.S.W., and expanded in response to the needs and request of judiciary in order to expedite Court proceeding while most productively tending to the needs of divorcing and post divorcing litigants. Support is given to the family system with particular sensitivity to children. Through the process parents learn to love their children more than they are upset with each other. Once ready to receive support of professionals in the community, those families in need are referred for services to the appropriate community or private agencies.
With the rise in litigation of Family Court cases in each judicial division and the decrease in the amount of funding available to assist the families in distress, the need for community assistance has become necessary.
In the year 2000 a group of prominent family attorneys headed by Terry Fogel, Esq., recognized the need to augment the capabilities of Family Court Services to assist parents and children caught in the web of the Family Court System. With this in mind KidSide, Inc., a non-profit organization, was formed.
KidSide, Inc., has been developed to raise and secure funds to provide the best possible services and facilities to the children of Miami-Dade County who have suffered through the conflict of their parents divorce or other litigation in the Family and Domestic Violence Courts. By working with Family Court Services, a unit of the Miami-Dade County Eleventh Circuit Court, Family Division, KidSide, Inc., will strive to ensure that the best interests of the children are considered by their parents as well as the Court.
KidSide, Inc., is delighted to receive donations form persons, firms and corporations dedicated to support the needs of children immersed in family court conflicts. Proceeds will benefit Family Court Services by enhancing services and facilities, funding additional staffing and providing additional hours of operation when possible. Additionally, KidSide, Inc., is available to receive grant funding in its quest to enhance the Family Court Services Unit’s response to the children, parents and Judiciary of the Family and Domestic Violence Courts.
