Our mission

These aren't just court cases. They're childhoods.

High-conflict family court cases — divorce, domestic violence, abuse — can be devastating for children. Prolonged disputes can lead to lasting harm, from academic struggles to emotional trauma.

Children from low-income families are especially vulnerable. Their families often can't afford the court-ordered therapy, evaluations or supervised visitation needed to support healing. KidSide fills that gap.

2000

Founded by family law attorneys

A group of prominent family attorneys led by Terry Fogel, Esq. created KidSide to augment the capabilities of Family Court Services.

2008

A lifeline after budget cuts

When court budgets were drastically reduced after the recession, KidSide stepped in so essential services could still be delivered.

Today

A trusted partner to the court

Led by judges, magistrates, attorneys and professionals, KidSide funds services and invests in FCS itself, from visitation rooms to essential tools.

Who we support

Family Court Services, Miami-Dade's 11th Judicial Circuit.

The only unit of its kind in Florida

FCS is an in-house family court unit offering supervised visitation, parenting coordination and crisis intervention.

Where in-house help ends

For therapy, evaluations, reunification support and testing, families must be referred to licensed outside providers, at a cost.

Where KidSide steps in

We cover those costs for families who can't pay, so cases move forward and children don't fall through the cracks.

How a family gets help

It starts with an Order of Referral.

Family Court Services (FCS) is the court's in-house resource for families in high-conflict cases involving divorce, paternity, domestic violence, substance abuse, or allegations of neglect or abuse.

When a judge or magistrate decides a family needs more support, they issue an Order of Referral to FCS. FCS assesses the situation and guides the family to the services that protect the child and promote long-term healing. KidSide does not provide services or choose providers; we pay licensed providers on behalf of families who qualify.
