The Honorable Maxine Cohen Lando Award
Judge Maxine Cohen Lando, a former KidSide board member, dedicated herself to protecting the rights of those in the court system. She served as a Dade County Public Defender and, for twenty years, as a respected judge in the Domestic Violence, Criminal, Civil and Family Divisions. She is fondly remembered for her fiery spirit, tempered by her kind heart and her dedication to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
Judge Lando served on The Florida Bar’s Judicial Independence Committee, mentored new judges, and taught at the Advanced Judicial College. She was a board member of Transition Inc., a life member of Hadassah and the Young Patronesses of the Opera, a talented pianist and a gifted mezzo-soprano.
In her loving memory, KidSide created the Honorable Judge Maxine Cohen Lando Award to honor those who follow her example of serving children in the court system with excellence, passion and dedication.
