Without your support, KidSide would not exist.
We help children from low-income families who are in crisis due to high-conflict Family Court cases, receive critical protection, advocacy, and the opportunity to heal.
How KidSide Helps
Family Court Services
More than 80% of the clients at Family Court Services do not have legal representation. Regardless of the reason, if a client’s emotions are in the driver’s seat when making decisions about their life and their family’s future, it can be problematic.
Alex, Father – Testimonial
“I was sent to Family Court Services by my judge Friday, November 13 for visits with my daughter. I haven’t seen my daughter in over 60 days because of a restraining order the mother put against me. The judge told me it would be $80 to see my daughter face to face. I got so upset. I can’t afford that. Judge then offered me virtual visits for free. I didn’t like that either, though. I thought there would be a waiting list because of course the service is free. I mean how many people in Dade county are also in my predicament? It was after 5pm and my hearing was still going on. Judge took a break and came back to the hearing and said they’re going to squeeze me in for an visit later tonight and they’ll make sure I get to see my daughter on Tuesday, November 17 for her birthday. I was scared. How was I going to take his word for it? Sure enough, someone from Family Court Services called me and I had my time set on Friday at 7pm. I got to see my daughter on Tuesday for her birthday. I missed her so much and I was so happy to see her. Seeing her reminds me why I work so hard and why I need to stand up for myself because of my daughter. So thank you to the staff over there because I know no one wants to be working after 5pm on a Friday and they did so without making me feel like I was a burden to them.”
