Before receiving help from Family Court Services, I was crippled by excessive lawyer fees. I was referred to this department for therapeutic services for my family and I. I was horrified that I would have to spend more money on therapy when I was already spending so much. The Judge appointed a Guardian ad Litem to my case too which I thought was unnecessary and more of a financial obligation for me. I must say…therapy helped me in ways I never thought would be possible. My daughter and son too. For the first time in 2 years, I was able to sit in the same room with my ex-wife, daughter and son and talk about our problems and find solutions to them. Anytime we had an issue, our Guardian ad Litem was there to quickly help us. After a few months, I let go of my attorney because I realized I didn’t need one. I was in such a combative state that I didn’t realize we were all in emotional pain. Family Court Services was completely supportive to me during this very difficult time in my life. They kept in contact with the Guardian and provided everyone with updates on my case which I was glad because that was one less thing I had to worry about. It’s been 2 months since my case has closed and it’s safe to say that me and my family members are all in a great healthy place. I can’t wait for this holiday season because it will be filled with happy memories and no drama.
