Myra’s Successful Co-Parenting Experience

As a non-English speaking Hispanic woman going through the legal system for the first time, attending hearings, and working a minimum wage job, it has been a difficult process to say the least. As a parent you always want your child to have both parents in their life but it’s difficult when parents don’t get along. When the judge referred us to Family Court Services, I didn’t know what to expect, my ex-husband and I never saw things eye to eye so I was scared this wasn’t going to work. The specialist assigned to my case was able to navigate us through the process and explain in detail how things worked. Since we had to complete a couple of different services she was always my go-to when I didn’t understand something. When I had to complete my evaluation, she helped me find a psychologist by my job and something within my budget. She always kept me up to date which was great because I was always very nervous. Thanks to Family Court Services I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My ex-husband and I have come a long way and finally we’re able to maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship for the benefit of our daughter.
